2020 : Tough as Nails Mindset Team
Prep Hoops takes a look at some players in the 2020 class that play with a Tough as Nails Mindset in this article.
Quentin Hodge – Lakewood HS (Sumter) (pictured on front)
Hodge carries over that mindset to the football field and plays Wide Receiver for the Gators. Hodge picked up a few offers this past summer on Grassroots Circuit with Team South Carolina. Florida Gulf Coast University and Mercer have offered Hodge for basketball. Hodge 6’5 has great length and really defends the passing lanes well. Prep Hoops first saw Hodge starting for the South Florence HS Bruins. as a freshman.
Nicholas Brenegan – Wade Hampton HS (Greenville)
Brenegan 6’0 is always in position to makes plays for his team. Brenegan’s dad John was a great player at the University of South Dakota (then NCAA D2). John played at Sun Prairie HS (WI) – I had a chance to see him play several times growing up in Beloit, WI. Brenegan never leaves the floor for lack of effort that’s for sure. Brenegan played the Grassroots Circuit with the Upward Stars Upstate Silver 16U squad.
Tyjhai Calvin – East Clarendon HS (Turbeville)
Calvin 5’11 is the floor general for the Wolverines. The Wolverines have made the jump to Class 2-A this season. Calvin a football player plays under great control and lets the game come to him. Calvin is built like a tank and will grab every 50/50 on the floor.
Jamean Muldrow – Darlington HS
Muldrow really doesn’t have a true position on the floor if anything maybe a wing player. Muldrow a left-handed player just gets you production points on effort and determination. Muldrow ran with Team Wall Southeast-Marion 2020 last Grassroots season.
I’rek Hartwell – Hunter-Kinard-Tyler HS (Neeses)
Hartwell plays in the shadows of Marlow Gilmore (2019) here for the Trojans. Hartwell 5’11 plays with a great attitude and get in your face mentality on the defensive end of the floor. Hartwell isn’t afraid to mix it up and take a charge for the team.
Tristan Freeling – Wando HS (Mount Pleasant)
Freeling 6’4 plays with a lot of confidence and swagger on the floor. Freeling is not a afraid to take a charge on command. Freeling will connect on three pointers when you need a shot to be made.
