Xander Okerlund: An Interview
Xander Okerlund is an exciting player to watch. The 2019 guard from Glen Lake is an explosive scorer. Okerlund has proven to be a top notch talent in Michigan, and colleges are taking notice. He recently received an offer from Lake Superior State University. I recently caught up with Xander Okerlund to talk recruiting and next high school basketball season.
Question:
How do you feel your summer went?
Xander Okerlund:
I feel that my summer has had some ups and downs. I don’t feel that I played the way I wanted to. I did however, feel that I improved throughout the summer.
Question:
What do you think are the strengths of your game?
Xander Okerlund:
I think my strengths are my pull-up and catch and shoot jump shot, coachability, and I’m a hard worker.
Question:
What’s the biggest improvement you made this summer?
Xander Okerlund:
I feel that my biggest improvement this summer was learning to work hard and hustle on the defensive end.
Question:
You recently received an offer from Lake Superior State? How does it feel?
Xander Okerlund:
It felt great to get an offer from LSSU. I was very happy and honored.
Question:
What are you looking for in a school at the next level?
Xander Okerlund:
At the next level I’m looking for the prefect fit for me. Mainly a school that isn’t too big or too small.
Question:
Do you have a time frame for your college decision?
Xander Okerlund:
I don’t have a timeframe for my college decision. I’m hoping to have a decision before the high school season.
Question:
What are your goals for next high school season?
Xander Okerlund:
My goals for my senior season are first to have the most fun year with my team and to improve throughout the year. Also to go as far as possible.
Question:
What are you looking forward to the most next high school season?
Xander Okerlund:
Next high school season I’m most looking forward to playing tough competition down state like Williamston and Holland Christian.
