Top Backcourts in 4A
Arizona has shown that it has some amazing talent at all levels and all positions. 4A is especially loaded and that talent comes from the backcourts of these great programs. Here are the Top Backcourts in 4A:
1. Shadow Mountain (Jaelen House/Jovan Blacksher)
How could you not put these guys at the top of this list? They’ve won three state championships in a row and look to be the favorites to win it this year, making that four state championships in a row. Last season, the duo turned in some ridiculous stat lines. House averaged 18.6 points per game, 5.3 assists, and 6.6 steals. Blackshear averaged 15.9 points per game, 5.6 assists, and 5.7 steals. They’ve both received D1 offers and have been tearing up the AAU scene. They are the top backcourt in 4A.
2. Salpointe Catholic (Evan Nelson/Majok Deng)
Salpointe Catholic is a very close second. These two led Salpointe to the state championship game last season and look to avenge their loss to Shadow Mountain this year. This dynamic duo also turned in some nice stats last season. Nelson averaged 24.3 points per game, 6.6 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 2.4 steals. Deng turned in 18.5 points per game and 9.1 rebounds. Nelson and Deng have also turned in great summers by receiving multiple D1 offers. However, the success of Shadow Mountain just beats out Salpointe’s top guards.
3. Buckeye (Otis Frazier/Zay On-Tay Boothman)
These two can flat out score the ball. They might be the best backcourt if you are looking at pure scoring. Frazier averaged 25.3 points per game and Boothman averaged 22.9 points per game. Those numbers are unreal and is the main reason why they are on this list. However, since they lost to Salpointe Catholic in the playoffs last year is why the are number three on the list.
