The list starts with 50 prospects but it will certainly grow as this particular class in Virginia is loaded with talent. We will continue to do multiple different breakdowns of this class. In this particular article you will get a brief breakdown of the top 5 players in the 2021 class in the state of Virginia.
2021 Efton Reid | Steward School
Efton comes in at number 1 in our initial 2021 rankings and for good reasoning. Reid stands at 6’11 and really emerged as a high major prospect this past winter at Steward School in Richmond. Reid was the starting center for the 15U Team Loaded Virginia Team that went 40-0 this year. He has received offers from Virginia Tech, ODU, VCU, Florida, Drake and Rutgers.
2021 Trevor Keels | Paul VI
We knew coming into this past high school season that Trevor would be the next star for the historical Paul VI program. He has great success at the wing position for Paul VI and his AAU team, Team Takeover. He is currently listed at 6’4 and can shoot the ball and take it to the bucket. With the graduation of Brandon Slater to Villanova, look for Keels to have a bigger role this upcoming high school season. Wake Forest, George Washington and South Carolina have all pitched him an offer.
2021 Roosevelt Wheeler | John Marshall
Roosevelt comes in as the second ranked big man in the 2021 class out of Virginia. I have heard first hand from his high school coach that, “Roosevelt is a pro.” Right now he is listed at 6’10 and uses his size tremendously. He blocks shots, rebounds the ball and scores around the rim. As a freshman he was already standing out on the boards and with the transfer of Isaiah Todd, look for Wheeler to even grab more rebounds this season for John Marshall. He has ealy offers from Hampton, ODU, VCU, Norfolk State and Virginia Tech.
2021 Elvin Edmonds | Hopewell
Elvin is the highest rated guard in our rankings coming off a great summer with Team Loaded. At 6’2 he can play with the ball in his hands and he can play off of it. He can flat out score the basketball in a numerous amount of ways especially from his shooting. He was by far one of the best shooters in any 15u age group that I saw this summer. Right now he holds offers from Hampton, ODU, Winthrop, JMU and VCU.
2021 Allen Strothers | Menchville
I first saw Allen when he was in 7th grade and I knew he was going to be something special. He might not be as talked about nationally as some of the other guys ahead of him in this class for Strothers is going to be an excellent lead guard at the next level. He is a smart point guard, he can pass it exceptionally and score the bucket. As he continues to grow and get older we are going to see more mid major programs get involved with his recruitment.
