Summer Breakdown: EG10 2019
With the end of the AAU season, we are looking back at notes and combining with video from the month of July to give a better perspective on each team. We are looking today at EG10 2019.
Ben Fort – 6’5 SF 2019 – Reynoldsburg (OH)
Ben is a long, lean wing with really solid rebounding ability and skills. He’s not really a guard but the handles allow him to be a possessive player but when you add in his ability to play a wide array of defense and give rebound over the top of players and use his length effectively, his stock is quite interesting. Will be more of a 2/3 at the next level where he can take advantage of that skill. Defensively, he’s going to give you a guy that can cover in transition and in the half court defend 1-3 pretty well. At the right level, he could play the four-man.
Recruitment: IUPUI
Brandon Vernon – 6’6 PF 2019 – Indianapolis Pike (IN)
Vernon is a big forward who has developed into more of a four-man in the last year. He’s got a big enough body to be tough to score on in the post but he has still retained his ability to shoot. One of the better and more lethal shooters in the class, Vernon still shows the ability to hit from distance and create a bit off the bounce. At the next level, if he can continue to improve his body and gain a little more quickness, he should have the skills to get into the lane and at the rim more from the wing.
Recruitment: N/A
Brayton Bailey – 6’2 SG 2020 – Bedford North Lawrence (IN)
Bailey is a tall guard who looks to be improving his on-ball handles and defense. Was quicker with the ball in his hands while still maintaining his impressive composure and IQ. Doesn’t make many mistakes and with playing up a year, didn’t really miss a beat. Thought he did well getting into the lane and creating plays against a better level of competition.
Recruitment: N/A
Isiah Moore – 5’10 PG 2019 – Warren Central (IN)
Isiah Moore is a smaller guard who looks a bit better with his shooting. Showed that he could hit well again from three but was doing more off the bounce and getting into a pull-up quickly rather than off the catch. He’s improved the vision and handles enough on the perimeter to create some tougher looks. Will just have to keep that balance between scoring and creating.
Recruitment: N/A
Logan Carter – 6’10 C 2019 – Evansville Mater Dei (IN)
Logan is a big bodied post player who has shown more of a willingness to play away from the rim. He’s still developing in that area but was able to get off some threes and mid-range jumpers. He’s going to have to improve the release a bit to be able to shoot at a good enough percentage but it does add a new element in for him. He’s a guy that plays well as a post scorer and showed he can still finish at a high level when he gets down there. The key is rounding out the frame and if he gets to that point and adds that much needed speed, he’s going to be so difficult to stop with his strength and size.
Recruitment: N/A
Max Newman – 6’7 PF 2019 – Monrovia (IN)
Newman showed that he can still be a productive player against a higher level of competition and with more size around him. He’s a guy that creates opportunities in the post better than most because of his handles and speed. He’s a capable shooter and while he didn’t key in on that a ton, he still showed it enough. Was better in the post and with more strength and repetition, I think he can be a productive rebound outside of his area.
Recruitment: Committed to Bethel College
Spencer Reist – 6’2 SG 2019 – Brebeuf Jesuit (IN)
Spencer is a lean guard who will play off the ball and provide support as a solid perimeter shooter. Release was a little low when we watched but he has no problems getting it off. He’s also improved as a ball handler and is adept at getting into space to get the shot off even against some length.
Recruitment: N/A
Wesley Jordan – 6’7 PF 2019 – Lawrence Central (IN)
Wesley looked like he was fully healthy and getting back in the swing of things after not getting a lot of time until this summer to really rest and regroup. He was moving and elevating more like he was in the past just didn’t effect things a ton yet. That will come with time but not really until the high school season. Just great to see him back on track.
Recruitment: N/A
Jalen Johnson – 6’8 PF 2019 – Indianapolis Manual (IN)
Only saw Jalen play a bit the last week with EG10 and he showed some of the things we saw in the spring, his low post scoring and rebounding and his toughness. Just had a tough time getting into the full swing with this team the last week. Looks a little stronger and was tough in the post when he got his chances.
Recruitment: UIC, Southern Illinois
Kycia Washington – 6’0 PG 2019 – Indianapolis Howe (IN)
Kycia showed a lot more patience and control of the game than he has previously. He’s usually a lot more quick to shoot and plays a little fast. Now, he showed more control and was able to create really well off the bounce to set his teammates up. Will now need to add back in more of that scoring punch to balance it out but nice to see the other side of the coin with him.
