Some More Backcourt Duos To Keep An Eye On
Athens Drive 2019 Guard DJ Robertson & 2020 Guard Lawrence Frost: A good mixture of power and speed, or strength and flair between these two guards. Robertson is a guard that can get up court in a hurry, he looks to push the pace and has some flair to his game. Frost on the other hand is more of a physical guard, he embraces contact well and although is a crafty player in his own right, he is more of a physical player.
Calvary Day School 2019 Guard Jackson Gammons & 2019 Guard Cliff Harris: Gammons has shown all of what he can do over the past few months and one of the attributes is definitely his ability to score the ball. We have seen him go for 30 or 40 without much of an issue and college have taken notice as he has multiple D1 offers. Harris is a player that put up nice numbers last season at about 14 points per game, he has solid height for a guard at 6’3 and will be called upon even more this season.
Grace Christian 2019 Guards Nate Yow & Evan Cheek: We are expecting a very good year from these two youngsters, they both have done well over the summer and have prepared to have a nice summer. Yow is what we would call a ‘’gym rat’’, he lives in the lab and is constantly finding ways that he can be better, we were very impressed when we saw him in July at The College Prospect Combine. He showed an ability to score and facilitate as well as impressive ballhandling skills. Cheek is more of a scoring guard that can fill it up in a hurry, knocking down shots from deep or attacking the paint at a high rate, he sees a good amount of success when he is aggressive. Schools such as: Lenoir Rhyne, Peace University & Mars Hill have been in contact and showing interest.
Berean Baptist Academy 2021 Guard Kelton Battle & 2019 Guard Aaron Sinclair: Last season they had a few games where they were able to put together some performances that turned heads. Battle is a dual threat PG that can get others going first but also has a skillset that allows him to score the ball as well. Sinclair is a player that can shoot the ball well, he can knock down shots from deep which was shown in a few of his performances last season.
