Sleeper Report: 2020 Prospects
We take a glance at a few players in the 2020 class that we feel haven’t necessarily got the love that they deserve recruitment wise and are on tap for a breakout season this year.
Village Christian Zavian McLean is one that we feel will turn the corner and pick up an offer very soon, he averaged over 23 PPG last season at Overhills and will look to do the same in one of the tougher private school conferences in the state. Citadel has been a school that has been showing interest and we wont be surprised to see other schools of that level come in and begin to recruit Zay.
New Life Christian Phil Martin has been left off the rankings list of many but it doesn’t take long to realize that he can be a very nice asset to a college program. He’s in the mix with all the top shooters in the state and every program needs a shooter, with the schedule New Life plays, he will get his fair share of opportunity to impress college coaches.
Overhills HS Jase Ford is a player that we feel can be a 20 PPG guy next season, with the loss of numerous players from Overhills, he will be one to step in and have the ball in his hands right away. The show that he put on against all types of defenders at the College Prospect Combine made us a believer without a doubt, be on the lookout for Mr.Ford this upcoming year.
Terry Sanford HS Jay Hickman played his first two season at Northwood Temple and transferred into Terry Sanford last year right after the season. Hickman is a knock down shooter and it seems as if he has grown some more over the past year, he is not one that will do a lot of talking but is a productive player that you love to have on your team.
Kinston HS Chance Minott is one that has waited his turn at Kinston, without the transfer of players as well as graduation, it looks like his role will be increased. He is a PG that can get everybody going as well as getting his own offense, he’s constantly communicating with his teammates through games which is something you love to see your PG do.
