Same Face, New Place (Part 1)
As schools begin to open their doors for the first time this fall, each of the the transfer rumors being heard around the DMV are being confirmed. This series aims to highlight some of the most significant ones.
MAKHI AND MAKHEL MITCHELL | WOODROW WILSON ’19
Makhi Mitchell and Makhel Mitchell of DC Premier are confirmed to be attending Woodrow Wilson for their final year of high school. The arrival of the future Maryland Terps back in D.C. is probably the most significant transfer news of the summer. The Mitchell Twins should play a major role throughout the season, and will help keep the Tigers in contention among not just the top teams in the DMV, but the country as well.
KEYSHAWN JOHNSON | ARCHBISHOP CARROLL ’20
Keyshawn Johnson is a very good local guard prospect in the local 2020 class, and his decision to transfer to Archbishop Carroll is very relevant to the WCAC landscape. He is a very good shooter and will provide much needed firepower to a new-look Lions roster.
MEKHI LONG | BISHOP MCNAMARA ’19
Mekhi Long has decided to return to the DMV and attend Bishop McNamara for his senior year. This is a major acquisition for the Mustangs because he is the type of player who can make an impact at any program. Long is one of the best long-term prospects you will in the DMV, and should flirt with a double-double every night.
DARIUS MILES | ST. CHARLES ’20
6-foot-6 jumbo playmaker Darius Miles has transferred to St. Charles, and should help propel them to another strong season. The long-limbed lefty can do just about everything on the court, and his versatility could prove essential to their success.
MONTEZ MCNEIL | GEORGETOWN DAY ’20
Montez McNeil will get his first taste of competition that the MAC has to offer this season as he has transferred to Georgetown Day from Calvert Hall. The hard-working and sturdily built forward will be a primary scoring option for the Hoppers, and his ability to rebound will be a useful asset.
