Recruiting Report: Zach Zebrowski (2019)
Need a smart athlete who can shoot it and has the gridiron mentality? Look no further than East Ridge’s Zach Zebrowski.
The 6-foot-1 guard ran the Adidas Silver circuit with 44 Elite and the mix of guys all around the metro found a nice groove by the time Vegas rolled around, snatching a few wins to finish out the grassroots season. “I thought the AAU season went pretty well,” Zebrowski said. “A few highlights were playing against some of the top competition in the country and creating friendships with my teammates.”
He also noted some strides he’s taken on the technical side of basketball and what still needs attention.
“I think this AAU season I improved a lot with handling pressure and being able to get to my shot. Going into my senior year I want to work on ballhandling and defense.”
Usually hoopers have a break during August; not Zach. He’s also the starting quarterback for East Ridge’s football team, a perennially strong Class 6A program.
“We should be very good this year,” he explained. “We return a lot of players that got significant time last year so we should be ready. Our goal is to win a conference championship and make the state tournament.”
As for the winter, the Raptors will be considered for the number one rank in Class AAAA when preseason predictions start to emerge. Zach’s veteran presence in the backcourt will be critical for the young but immense talent on the roster. “We have a very good outlook on this upcoming basketball season. We return four key starters from a section runner-up team last year. Also we have a few kids who should step up into big roles,” Zebrowski said. “We have high expectations and the goal is to win a state championship.”
After a successful summer on the hardwood in multiple out-of-state events, a handful of programs are keeping in touch with Zach. “A few of the schools that have stayed in contact with me are Emporia State, Dartmouth, Bethany Lutheran and the University of Chicago.”
