Recruiting Report: Zach Banks (2019)
One of Westfield’s best two sport athletes is Zach Banks. The 6′ point guard is a force on the football field but is just as solid on the hardwood. Last year, Banks averaged 16.0 points a game and scored a career high 30 points in a game against Pendleton Heights. He is really quick and shifty and is able to get into the lane at a high rate to score. He has a thin frame but it doesn’t really hurt him at all due to how shifty he is. Loves to get the ball and push in transition where he can really do some damage.
Due to his performance this summer with Gametime Thomas, Banks has started to recieve a little bit of interest from schools around the state. Anderson, Franklin, Taylor, and Wabash have all shown interest and he is planning to go on a visit to Anderson and Wabash. Banks says that his visit to Wabash is in September and he will be visiting for both basketball and football. The visit to Anderson isn’t scheduled as of now but that will be for basketball and track.
Banks had a really good summer in both AAU and high school basketball. He tells me that he felt that he played very well in June with his high school team. In July with Gametime Thomas, Banks said that they won two tournaments and that he had a great time. Banks was able to showcase his speed with the ball in the open floor and his ability to get the ball to teammates effectively. Coaches came away at his ability to do some many different things on the floor for his team. Banks also showcased an ability to get after it on the defensive end as well helping his team out with multiple big plays through the summer. He is very lengthy which helps him get his hands into the passing lanes.
Banks worked on a lot in his game over the summer but right now he is geared into football season. This year Westfield could be pretty good and Banks is looking forward to winning and being successful as his final basketball season draws nearer. He will look to continue to score and to turn the heads of coaches all over the state. With another year like last year, you can bet that Banks will end up on a basketball roster next winter.
