Recruiting Report: Mason Ritter (2019)
Six-foot-3 wing Mason Ritter spoke about his goals and what he wanted to do with the South Dakota Venom in the spring and with a dozen points a game and being a leader in assists, Ritter has become a wanted prospect after a 26-win 17 season.
“I think playing against more athletic teams most of the summer helped me become more patient on the offensive end to let things develop rather than just going in out of control or turning the ball over,” Ritter told Prep Hoops.
The experience for the Venom kids was so good, Mason couldn’t pinpoint just one moment, the entire year went great!
“I think the best memory was just playing with Venom in general, I cant just pick out one certain one because they’re all great,” Mason said.
“It was a great group of guys to be around and we all got along really well so it just made the chemistry on the floor come easier.”
Ritter will bring what he learned with the Venom to a Tea Area court that is jacked full of talent. Two D1 kids (Noah Freidel and Justin Hohn), a top shooter in the state (Kade Stearns), plus a strong mix of veterans and up and coming talent.
“I think our expectations for this upcoming season aren’t any different than what they have been the last twp seasons and that’s winning the state championship. We have a lot of the guys from last year’s team returning and I think the guys coming in to fill those other empty spots won’t have a problem adapting.”
The winter will come faster than Mason or anybody else thinks and while preparing for this season, Ritter also has a college basketball career to think of.
“The schools that are in contact most are Dakota State and Northwestern College,” Mason stated. “I just have an offer from Dakota State at the moment but I hope to grow that soon. i’m taking visits to both Dakota State and Northwestern in a couple of weeks.”
