Recruiting Report: Logan Heim (2019)
Six-foot-9, 285 pound Dell Rapids center Logan Heim collected 8.5 rebounds a game for a talented team last winter and today caught up with PHD to talk about his final year.
Logan played with the Pentagon Schoolers from April through July and had a great time with his teammates off the floor and when learning the game from the Schoolers staff.
“I learned how to be more physical on the defensive side of the ball and how to be a better leader on the court and from the bench,” Logan explained. “The top memories from this summer playing with Schoolers was by far playing with my teammates! There was never a dull moment with us we always were positive with one another and always knew how to make everything we were doing enjoyable!”
Dell Rapids lost their top four scorers to graduation including three players to college basketball so there is a lot of change for the team this year but Logan is excited for the winter.
“This winter will be interesting, we don’t have a lot of varsity experience coming back but I don’t think that will stop us,” Logan said. “We have a very talented young group of guys who like to compete. The expectations I have are to go into every game ready to grind and to make a postseason run come March.”
Logan returns along with Drew Van Regenmorter, Eddie Price, and Logan Ellingson from last year’s rotation but it’s Logan and his 8.5 boards, six points, and 2.5 assists a game shooting 45 percent from the floor, 60 percent from the foul line, and he made a third of his threes.
Logan will play college sports but he’s also a top football prospect in South Dakota.
“I haven’t quite decided if college basketball or college football is for me but I have visited Augustana and Northern State for football and plan on visiting Dakota State and Dakota Wesleyan for basketball.”
