Recruiting Report: Kerwin Walton (2020)
Hopkins 2020 small forward Kerwin Walton is a big time sleeper wing at the high major level. The D1 Minnesota 16U small forward is a lengthy wing that can defend multiple positions on the defensive end of the floor. Offensively he was most effective slashing to the rim with his burst splitting defenders left and right. Big fan of the potential here!
Walton chatted with us about his July with D1 Minnesota on the 16U level.
“July went really well. I think we went 11-3. We ended up winning the Adidas Finale. I think I played really good considering I got more attention and a couple more offers from it. Coaches have been telling me I have been playing good.”
What is the latest with recruiting?
“I am starting to get a little more texts and phone calls from other coaches. I picked up two offers from July. New schools texting me include Michigan and Denver.”
Walton picked up a pair of offers in July from Drake and Kansas State. He broke down what stands out about Kansas State.
“I love where they play. They play competitive teams like Kentucky. They actually had a good run in the tournament.”
Purdue was Walton’s first offer and have remained in consistent communication.
“They said I fit their system and it makes sense because they are a shooting team that makes a whole bunch of threes and a bunch of shooters and one seven footer to work on the inside. That fits my game because I like to shoot the ball.”
Any visits planned for the fall?
“I might visit Purdue or attend a camp in August.”
