Recruiting Report: Josh Crutchfield (2019)
Josh Crutchfield, better known as “Crutch” by his Team Griffin teammates, has quietly elevated his stock this offseason. A six-foot-four forward from Norman North High School, Crutchfield looks to extend his role for the Timberwolves as he enters his senior season.
“My goals for the offseason are to just get better every single day and get ready to make a big-time run at the Gold Ball,” says Crutchfield. “Everyone around the state isn’t giving us a chance and we like that, we all take it as a chip on our shoulder.”
With Team Griffin this summer, Crutchfield played a big role in his teammates’ success.
“I want to make players around me better day in and day out,” says Crutchfield.
Crutchfield is a versatile player on the offensive side of the ball. He is good at getting into open spots on the floor to knock down spot-up shots from mid and 3-point range. His strength aids him in being able to get to the rim as well. He is smart with the ball in his hands and prides himself in his ability to create plays.
“I think the best part of my game is my shot making ability and my high basketball IQ,” says Crutchfield.
Crutchfield’s progress during the July live period can not be understated. His most visible improvement was his ability to create shots off the dribble, a skill Crutchfield hopes to continue to hone.
“I am working on being able to put it on the ground more and just being more comfortable,” says Crutchfield.
Crutchfield was offered by Dodge City Community College (Dodge City, Kan.) in August.
“I’ve been around the game of basketball at a high level for nearly my entire life,” says Crutchfield. “I think it shows in my play on the court.”
One thing that you may not know about Crutchfield is that he is a Jordan Sneakerhead.
“I always used to look them up on the internet as a young kid so when I saved up enough money I just started buying every single pair I could get.”
Wearing the Jordan Brand on his uniform must have inspired Crutchfield’s improvement with Team Griffin.
