Recruiting Report: Jesse Bingham (2019)
The Fall is a good time for things to try and work themselves out, especially for incoming seniors. For senior wing Jesse Bingham, he might have just had a weekend that could help to give him some direction.
Bingham, a 6’5 wing, was on campus at the University of Indianapolis for the annual Elite Camp and he turned it up a bit as one of the top performers at the event. The coaching staff was already plenty interested in Bingham before the event got underway but by the end, they were ready to make him an offer.
For Jesse, this is his second offer but first four-year program offer as Dodge City Community College is the other program heavily involved. Bingham says he is also getting some interest from Midway, Purdue Northwest, Army, and Cornell.
However, Indianapolis could end up being in a great spot to land the talented wing. Location to home and level make a lot of sense and Bingham seems to be interested as well. He already has an official visit setup for September 8th.
Part of what we saw this weekend was his ability to slash and play with finesse from inside the arc. He’s got good handles and can get to the rim pretty well and pairs that with a good mid-range jumper. This weekend, though, he was showing off much more of that athleticism and bounce around the rim, allowing him to impact that game in ways he really wasn’t doing much in the summer.
Now, he still needs to find a better shooting stroke from beyond the three-point line but if he does and continues to play with a little more aggressiveness on the interior, he’s a completely different and much more dynamic player. That seems much more in reach than just a couple months ago. With work left to be done, Bingham has a big time offer in hand already and has opened up some options for him at the next level.
