Recruiting Report: Jeremy Beckler (2019)
Jeremy Beckler of White Bear Lake has the winter season in his full frontal view. The Bears now have their complete focus on the big season they have been working for all of their lives.
“This winter, we have six key seniors, Sam Schwartz, Mathias Beck, Isaac Tessier, Carter Ehlers and Steven Kleist and me, that have played together for many years,” Beckler said. “We expect to have fun during our last year, but be able to challenge for our conference and section to get to State.”
At 6-foot-8 Beckler is coming off a big number junior year that has college coaches in regular contact. Beckler has recently visited several MIAC teams.
“I’ve been on a number of visits over the last couple of months – Carleton, Hamline, Gustavus and, soon, St. Thomas,” Jeremy said. “Some NSIC teams have been reaching out since Vegas also.”
Beckler was in Las Vegas with Heat Henderson, a team that played better than expected winning a very impressive 26 games from April through July.
“This 17u season was great in seeing how many good players there are playing basketball. A lot of teams gameplanned on me and rising to that challenge was interesting. Also, I was asked to be more of a leader on our team, which was a great process.
“Being around the guys on the Heat Henderson team was great. Coach Menzie Henderson did a great job bringing in quality players, but even better guys. They made the experience enjoyable”
