Recruiting Report: Isaiah Watts (2019)
Bloomington Jefferson wing Isaiah Watts made a name for himself with the Minnesota Fury and now enters his senior year with an exciting pair of seasons (football and basketball).
Watts is a versatile quarterback on the football field that has drawn attention from college football teams and he’s going to play in a high school football all star game in Hawaii. As far as basketball goes, Isaiah is wanted there too.
“I have been in contact most with Jamestown and Bethel University for basketball and have been trying to arrange a visit to both as well as St Thomas for football,” Watts said.
“I have reached out to UMD basketball but haven’t heard much from them. Also, I have been invited to the Tiki Bowl in Hawaii for football which takes place in January of 2019. I’m also hearing from Hamline as well.”
Watts was a key ingredient for the Fury giving them whatever role the team needed. And he did it well for another fantastic Fury team.
“I learned that I personally can be a role player on a team but I also can lead a team,” Watts said. “I am versatile in my abilities so whatever is needed will be done.
“Both on and off the floor, my highlight of this past 17u season would have to be Vegas. Playing was a new experience but when we were not playing we saw Trae Young, Lavar Ball, and Scottie Pippen which was cool.”
And as we said before, it’s on to sports with the Jaguars. Jefferson has a lot of guys to replace but with Watts they will be competitive.
“This next season is unpredictable, we have only one returning varsity player other than myself and we could possibly be playing underclassmen point guards since that is something we are lacking.
“A conference championship is for sure a reasonable expectation, though!”
