Recruiting Report: Hogan Orbaugh (2019)
Missing time during the Spring and Summer of your final year of AAU is extremely difficult to overcome for some. However, Zionsville (IN) post Hogan Orbaugh has shown that it can be done and he’s set up for a solid Fall to make up for that.
Orbaugh, a talented 6’8 post player, missed some significant time this summer and it has hurt his recruitment a bit but he was a known commodity heading into April and has been active with his communication with colleges and that has led to a wide list of schools with active interest.
Trine, Rose-Hulman, Hanover, Wabash, Franklin, DePauw, and Ohio Northern have been in contact with Hogan this summer and a good chunk of them are looking to bring him in for a visit in the next month. He will head to Trine, Rose-Hulman, Hanover, and Wabash with those visits already set up.
Another part of the reason why Hogan has drawn a considerable amount of interest is due to his size. Height and size is always a coveted thing and with how Hogan progressed in the last year, he’s due for a strong senior season and could be one of the better low post options for local DIII and NAIA programs.
Hogan has trimmed up the body and is much quicker and has the foot speed to play away from the rim a bit more. More built around a strong face-up game, Orbaugh can be a difficult matchup because of his strength on the low block. He’s also able to stretch the floor more now than ever. Not a locked down skill but much better and could be a tool for him at the next level.
Things might still be a little ways away with his recruiting as he will have to lock down some of these offers and roster spots but some on-campus visits and the ability to get into an open gym setting could be just the ticket. That is why these upcoming visits could give a peak into where he will end up.
