Recruiting Report: Drew Comer (2019)
The class of 2019 is jam-packed with talent and one of the deeper spots and more sought after on the recruiting trail is that of shooter. That is a big reason why Greensburg (IN) guard Drew Comer has a handful of offers heading into the final Fall of his high school career.
Comer, a 6’4 shooting guard, has a few suitors in hand following his summer on the AAU circuits. Starting out with UA Grind 2019, Drew made the switch to Indiana Elite Central 2019 later in the Spring and started to find some more success and fluidity to his game. His shooting seemed a little off early on but as the summer wore on, he was able to impact games to a bigger degree and that seemed to drive some more interest for him.
As it sits, Comer has offers from Bethel College, IU-East, Indiana Tech, and a walk-on offer from Indianapolis. He also has Air Force, Emporia State, and Bellarmine showing some level of interest here as we dive into August.
The Indianapolis offer gives him the biggest and closest to home offer that could be a big deal. However, Bethel College was the first offer and the relationship with the coaching staff is likely the strongest.
But Drew says that a decision isn’t coming right now as he wants to see things filter out and come to more of a static point as Air Force and Emporia State seem to be showing some increased interest as of late. A decision is still up in the air but could come before the high school season.
At the next level, Comer could be a high-end role player pretty quickly. He’s got good size on the perimeter and enough handles to be able to create off the bounce a bit. But, he’s likely to find his minutes because of his ability to shoot the ball.
