Recruiting Report: Cory Richards (2019)
This deep class of 2019’s is going to keep some guys in the shadows a bit longer than you would get in other years but some are starting to find their way through. Maybe none more than Franklin Community (IN) guard Cory Richards.
The 6’2 off-guard is one of the more polished scoring guards in the state and has the ability to play pretty quickly in college. He can shoot it, handle the ball into the lane, and create pretty well in all areas of the floor. He’s shown this summer that even against tougher competition, he can handle his own.
That is a big reason why a couple schools have already pulled the trigger with their offers. Concordia and Midway have offered. The most recent, Midway, came following their Elite Camp earlier this month.
Joining those programs is Tiffin, Wabash, Mt. St. Joseph, Trine, Anderson, and Indiana Tech. Richards has already been on campus at Concordia, Tiffin, and Midway but is set up to visits to Wabash along with those three for a second visit.
“I like the coaching staffs for both Midway and Concordia,” Richards said. “Both coaches contact me a lot and stay up to date. I really like Concordia’s campus, only downside is travel but I could work around that.”
For Richards, looking ahead at this Fall, his interest level is sure to continue to grow. He has a great game for DIII and NAIA programs and could pick up a few more offers before the high school season begins. With his size and the ability to score, after showing consistency for a while, he is going to have some options and his two offers could be joined following another round of visits.
