Recruiting Report: Cortez Mosley (2019)
Peoria Richwoods 2019 6’5” small forward Cortez Mosley was ready for a primetime breakout performance at the PrepHoops Summer Challenge and that is what he did when we saw him. He is a big and athletic wing that has freaky bounce! Plays so hard on both ends of the floor. He is definitely at his best in the open floor and driving to the hoop. Finishes well. Hit an occasional mid-range jumper and made several nice passes.
Mosley spoke with PHI about his play in July for the Illinois Warhawks.
“July has been good. Summer Challenge was only my second one, but I feel we have been clicking together because most of us know each other from playing against each other in the Big 12 conference. With all good players coming together our chemistry got good in two weeks.”
What does he bring to the table as a player?
“I am active, aggressive, and athletic on defense. I always bring energy. I like to keep it going and get out in transition.”
Mosley spoke about running with his new high school team this summer.
“I transferred to Peoria Richwoods. Playing good with them. I got my first offer with them from Northern Illinois playing at their team camp. I feel next season we are going to have a chance to go somewhere in the Big 12 and make a run in 3A.”
Northern Illinois has stepped up with an offer. What does he like about them?
“I like that when they saw me there was no discussion. It was come to NIU and play for us. Then they offered. No playing around. It was quick. They hit me up every day.”
