Recruiting Report: Cody Perkins (2019)
As a junior Cody Perkins averaged 17 points and ten boards as for Mott-Regent. The 6-foot-4 Perkins is a double-double wing that had a fantastic 17u year with the North Dakota Attack.
“I really learned that you just have to go out and play and have fun and don’t get caught up in the players or refs,” Perkins said. “Just play your game and do what you do best and I also learned what everyone does when they play AAU, just to be physical and tough.”
The best part of competing with the Attack? More like the most memorable for Cody Perkins? Just showing out with the talent around him.
“Probably the biggest memories are in warm-ups, we would kind of do a dunk line and it was crazy to see what athletic ability my teammates had along with myself, and off the court we once went to a Rock quarry and although it probably wasn’t the safest thing to go do no one got hurt and we had a lot of fun.”
When it comes to his senior year Perkins is about to shoulder a huge load. Bigger than a double-double? When you are the only returning starter it’s going to be an even bigger double-double.
“I am the only returning starter coming back but a few players got some valuable minutes last year so we will just have to get them caught up and on the same page,” Perkins said.
“We also have a new coach this year but realistic expectations for our team this year we are going to make the regional tournament and we are going to do everything it takes to finish on top.”
Perkins has the work ethic and the physical ability to play college basketball, but he might be even better on the football field.
“I’ve been in contact with Jamestown and MSUM for football and I don’t have any visits coming up as of now.”
