Recruiting Report: Brian Johnson (2019)
Glenbrook North 2019 four man Brian Johnson is a gritty post that has a nose for the basketball. Competitive kid that rebounds in traffic. Also displayed his ability to stretch the defense with his three point shot during July with Kessel Heat 17U.
Johnson spoke with PHI about his final summer on the grassroots circuit.
“July has been pretty good. I joined them for the summer. I really like the guys and we play really well together. It is a good system. Everyone shares the ball. I had to get used to a new role. On my high school team I was doing a lot of the ball handling and on Kessel I played off the ball. Playing of Jaeden Zackery and Zach Toussaint. They are great guards. It was a good experience.”
What does he bring to a team?
“I think I can shoot the ball pretty well. I think for my size I can handle the ball and am a good passer. My rebounder has gotten a lot better and having a nose for the ball. It has been a lot better playing for Kessel.”
Johnson broke down his summer with Glenbrook North.
“June was awesome for our high school team. I think we will be really good this year. We have a good core of guys. I think we will have a good season. We won a lot more games this summer than we have in the past.”
Where do things stand with recruiting?
“I went on visits to North Central and St. Norbert. I have been in contact with Lake Forest, Augustana, and North Park.”
