Recruiting Report: Ali Ali (2019)
The amount of talent in the 2019 class is easily viewed and was over the course of July. The best of the best at each level were picked out and you can tell a lot based on the commitments college programs made by sending out offers over the last few weeks.
Indy Heat 2019 Red was one of the most popular teams in the state as they were home to some of the more intriguing players this class has and Ali Ali was maybe the most polarizing.
The 6’7 forward from East Noble (IN), Ali Ali picked up a ton of offers during and following his strong showing this past month. Now claiming offers from Indianapolis, East Mississippi C.C., Eastern Florida, Dodge City C.C., Huntington, IU-East, Davenport, and Missouri Southern State.
Things are only starting to get going for Ali who says he’s going to be looking to make some visits this Fall first before really getting into anything. He’s got a wide array of interest from JUCO to NAIA to Mid-Major teams. He’ll head to Akron on August 30th before going to Davenport on September 8th. He also has visits lined up for Huntington and Indianapolis in September as well.
He’s already been on campus to see the University of Indianapolis and will be back for an official in September.
“It went very well,” Ali said of the trip to Indy. “Enjoyed spending the day with the players and coaching staff and I’m excited to go back down.”
Ali says he’s really “open to everything” at this point and will decide after the scheduled visits but a commitment could come before or after the high school season.
“School that has a good academic program, coaching staff, and players I will enjoy being around and being pushed to be the best I can be,” Ali said of his thoughts on a potential college.
For Ali, he’s been so polarizing because of his size and skill combination. He’s very adept at handling the ball and has so much length and agility that he brings an immense amount of versatility on both ends of the floor. He’s come around as a shooter, although that might be the area he still need to improve on the most. However, he still has quite a bit of room to grow and could blossom into a massive standout with some more development.
