Recruiting Report: Alex Larson (2019)
The East Ridge Raptors will be a team to beat this year with their size, athleticism and skill at all positions. Alex Larson fits the bill of all three characteristics and will be a key piece in their 2018-19 run.
Despite playing on many different grassroots teams over the summer, Alex believes the cohesion physically and mentally between he and his teammates has been very impressive in terms of offseason workouts.
“I am super excited for this upcoming season! As a team, We have really been determined to get stronger in the weight room and get better in the gym this summer,” he said. “I think with all this work put in, we will have a really successful season!
“Our expectation this year is definitely to make it to state. We have all the tools and determination to do so, the sky’s the limit!”
With an extremely loaded and deep Raptor frontcourt, it can be hard to find a good rhythm for a longer stretch of minutes. Alex got to showcase himself with Heat Henderson, one of the better teams around that definitely gives off a team-first vibe. It led to some pretty exciting experiences.
”One of my favorite moments from the grassroots season was winning against Wisconsin Blizzard in triple OT,” Larson said. “Another favorite moment was beating a very good Kanas City Pacers team in Indianapolis!”
Standing 6-foot-7 and lean, Larson’s game has been mostly inside and midrange. He hopes to add to those abilities after a big summer. “I think I have improved a lot in my overall strength to finish through contact and being able to expand the floor and shoot the three ball,” he explained. “One thing I need to work on for my high school season is my consistency and ball handling.”
Plenty of top schools around the MIAC are in contact with Larson.
“Some of the schools that have been contacting me are Emporia State, St. Thomas, St. John’s, St. Olaf, Gustavus, Augsburg, Hamline, St. Mary’s. Concordia Moorhead, St Scholastica and Bethany Lutheran.”
