Recruiting Report: Ahron Ulis (2020)
Marian Catholic 2020 point guard Ahron Ulis is one of the premier point guards in the state at his position. He is a guard that handles the ball well and is particularly effective working in the pick and roll game. Ulis is a sound jump shooter and is actually best pulling up from both mid-range and three. Acrobatic finishes at the rim. Advanced feel passing at the lead guard spot.
He broke down July with Meanstreets 16U.
“The spring and summer went well. We went down to Peach Jam and didn’t make it as far as we wanted, but we still went 3-1 and lost in the Elite 8 to a good team. Playing together with Tyler (Beard) and DJ (Steward) we have been winning a lot of games.”
How did he feel it went on the circuit from a personal standpoint?
“I have been playing way better. I told myself coming into July that I had to prove myself. Come out and play hard every time. Make shots.”
Ulis discussed the areas he is looking to improve.
“Mostly my three pointer and pull up. Knocking down shots. During June and summer I can get to the basket, but I am looking more to hit jumpers.”
Also got back together with his high school team in June preparing for next season.
“That went well. We went to Marquette and Loyola. We played well and as a team. Won a lot of games.”
What is going on with recruiting?
“I am talking to Northwestern, Iowa, Loyola, Western Illinois, Miami (OH), and Penn.”
He picked up an offer from UIC during the second live period. Mentioned a pair of schools he would like to get out to for visits.
“I want to visit Loyola and Northwestern in the fall.”
