Prospect Spotlight: Zeke Grier (2020)
Lexington Christian Academy lost a lot to graduation in May but Junior Zeke Grier is ready to step up and help fill the void. Zeke describes his game as being a “Great shooter with a high IQ. I’m a good passer with few turnovers and I control the pace of the game well.” Heading into his Junior year with the Eagles, Grier is working on improving his defensive quickness and becoming a better shooter off the dribble as opposed to being more of a catch and shoot player.” Zeke played AAU this season with Iam3rd ICE out of Lexington. Grier said they had a very strong finish as a team. As an individual, Zeke shot the highest 3 point percentage on the team with the highest number of assists and the fewest turnovers. The experience with the ICE helped Zeke realize what a playmaker he can be and “how to step up as a leader and scorer.”
Coming out of his 16u AAU season, Grier has interest from the University of Indianapolis, Drury and Western Kentucky. Zeke doesn’t currently have any offers but is starting to garner more interest from colleges as his Junior season gets close. Zeke has set some goals for himself and his team heading into his third year with LCA. “I expect to be the second leading scorer and shock some people who are expecting us to not be as good as last year.” As an individual, Grier aspires to “be one of the state’s best duos along with Senior Kyle Rode.” LCA head coach Nate Valentine has high hopes for his Junior shooter as well, “Zeke played an integral role in helping us win an All A state championship and reach the 11th region finals as a sophomore. Zeke is a tremendous shooter with exceptional range. He has spent countless hours in the gym this off-season and will play a major role in the success of our team this year.” For LCA to get back to the 11th region tournament this season, they will need to replace 35 points per game lost to graduation and Zeke hopes to step up and fill a large part of that void.
