Prospect spotlight: Jeffery Bujan (2020)
Jeffery Bujan will be a vital component to the South Miami High School basketball team this season.
The dynamic junior guard has been quite productive on the travel circuit this summer for Florida Gold Coast.
“Averaged 14 points per game. Had a game where he scored 31 points in Atlanta versus a very good Playmakers team in the semifinals,” Gold Coast director Steven Lopez said. “He’s been playing very well and out of his mind.”
Here’s everything you need to know about Bujan:
Name: Jeffery Bujan
Class year: 2020
Position: Point guard/shooting guard
Height: 6-foot-1
Weight: 165
Awards: Hoop Mia All-Star
What the awards mean to him: It makes me work more so I can get more recognition and people can see my game. I feel like I am very underrated and coming from a school with a lot of talent like South Miami makes me want to work hard not only on the court but also in weight room.
His mindset on the court: Try to get everyone involved, score when I have to and not let the person I am guarding get comfortable.
Strengths: Playmaking and scoring the ball in all three levels of the floor.
Areas of improvement: Getting stronger, faster and more athletic.
Favorite basketball memory: When we were down 17 I helped my team come back to go to the finals in a JV tournament when I was a freshman. No matter how bad the situation is you have to keep on till the final buzzer.
What he loves the most about basketball: It’s just fun to me, everything about it.
How he tries to be a good teammate: I push them to the limit and I talk to them when they make a mistake. I tell them to keep their head up. No matter what you do, everything is going to be straight and I got your back no matter what.
Best advice from his coaches: They always push me to the limit and to never give up on anything I do. Do I want to end up working doing something you don’t like doing or you want to put in work now for I won’t have to work as hard later?
What basketball has taught him about life: With hard work and education you can achieve anything.
Player he looks up to: Damian Lillard because he never gave up and he was not a highly recruited player.
Colleges he’s most interested in: Wherever there is a good coach and wherever they would need a player like me on the team.
Goals on and off the court: To take care of my parents when I get older because they have done so much for me.
