Prospect Spotlight: Harper Williams (2019)
A 6’1, 180-pound guard, Salina Central 2019 Harper Williams is gearing up for a big senior season after putting together a strong summer for WCS Team Driven.
Williams brings a steady game to the court and plays with a high basketball IQ.
“I don’t force much, and always trying to get the right shot for my team,” Williams said. “I’m a really streaky shooter and I can shoot well beyond the arc but I’m not just a shooter, I draw a lot of attention and kick it to the open guy and can finish at the basket.”
Williams says competing alongside Team Driven was an opportunity to play more basketball with a group he has known and played alongside since second grade.
“It has really prepared me because we played some good competition that really allowed me to get better,” he says.
Williams said he spent much of the offseason focused on improving his strength and ball handling.
“I’ve been in the gym daily trying to perfect my craft,” he said.
A fan of LeBron James, Damien Lillard and James Harden, Williams says his dad has had the biggest influence on his basketball career to date.
“My biggest influence has probably been my dad because he played up to college and really pushed me to be the best I could be. He knows how good I can be so he gets me righ,” Williams said.
Williams says he has heard from several schools, ranging from the NCAA Division II to Division III level, but is currently keeping all his options open as he begins his senior year.
