An athletic and well-rounded 6’3 wing player, Jonas brings a versatile skill set to the floor, as well as energy and a big motor.
“I like to bring a lot of energy and effort to the court and come with the readiness to do what needs to be done to have the team be successful,” he says.
A year ago, Jonas got some varsity run for a young Andover team that featured several freshmen and sophomores playing key roles alongside 2018 senior Braden Johnson, and 2019 guard Andrew Gagnon, the team’s leading scorer.
Jonas played in 15 varsity games, averaging 4.5 points and 2.1 rebounds per game to help Andover go 11-10 overall.
“This last season was a rebuilding year for the team and I felt I was able to contribute defensively, getting rebounds and making buckets to help win games,” Jonas said. “Everyone on the team had different strengths to help us have a successful season.”
Jonas says he has spent the offseason focused on improving his outside shot.
“II have been working a lot on my shot using the “gun” at the school, my defensive game and ball handling using two ball drills and cone drills,” he said.
Jonas says NLHA coach Mark Gaddis has been the biggest influence on his basketball career to date and says the experience has paid off as he prepares for his junior season.
“(Gaddis) encouraged me to tryout for Next Level Hoops Academy to expose me to a higher level of play and competition,” Jonas said. “Playing for NLHA has been the best experience for me to increase my game and creating a brotherhood with my teammates.
“The level of competition and talent I’ve been exposed to through this summer will pay off this coming year.”
