Prospect Spotlight: Derrick Voltz Jr. (2022)
The next wave of Michigan high school basketball stars are weeks away from stepping in their high school doors. Derrick Voltz Jr. is one of those prospects in the class of 2022. He is a 6’0” point guard who played grassroots basketball with Booker’s Ballers and Flint Affiliation. Voltz Jr. averaged 15ppg, 5rpg, 5spg, 10apg, and 3bpg. He will be attending Carrollton High School.
Derrick Voltz Jr.Derrick Voltz Jr. has a solid skill set that will help him see success at the high school level. He is a fast athlete who uses his combination of speed and size effectively. Voltz Jr. is an excellent ball handler. He can break down a defender in the halfcourt and create space off a dribble drive. Voltz Jr. is a true floor leader. While he can create his own offense, he is even more effective setting the offense and finding open teammates. Voltz Jr. is very athletic, which is shown by his ability to rise up and throw down a dunk. He is a multi sport star who also excels on the football field.
Voltz Jr. is constantly striving to improve as a player. He is currently currently focusing on crashing the boards in Derrick Walton Jr. fashion. Voltz Jr. has used grassroots basketball as a way to gain experience and expand his skill set. In fact, at Brawl for the Ball this summer, he had his first in game dunk.
Derrick Voltz Jr. has a lot to offer a college basketball program in the future. His speed and his willingness to always go as hard as possible has led him to success. Voltz Jr. can provide a college coach with a versatile athlete. He has the ability to successfully play multiple positions.
Voltz Jr. is a dedicated and driven young man on and off the court. He wants to carry at least a 3.0 GPA through his first year of high school. Voltz Jr. is interested in studying computers. He has set a goal of playing varsity football, either junior varsity or varsity basketball, and run track his freshman year. Voltz Jr. wants to earn a scholarship to play basketball at the next level. He is motivated by his “parents and other family who support and encourage me to do my best.”
