Prospect Spotlight: Braxton Beaty (2020)
After a big summer of grassroots ball, 6-foot-2 guard Braxton Beaty is heading into his junior season at Lambert with a head full of steam.
An all-around guard with some good size, Beaty broke down what it is about his game that made him so effective this past spring and summer.
“My strengths are that I get to the rim super easily, I got crisp handles and I can knock down open shots,” said Beaty.
He’s been staying busy since the conclusion of his sophomore season. Beaty was playing with AC Georgia 16U the past four months, and has been to elite camps during his offseason too.
“It was a good summer for me,” he said. “On AC Georgia I was like the floor general and the leader of the team, I shot the ball, I kind of did a little bit of everything.”
Now, with his junior season at Lambert just three months away, Beaty mentioned what his role will be this winter.
“My sophomore year, I was mainly on the court for defensive purposes. I’m really good at defense, at Lambert that’s what I was on the court for,” said Beaty.
“This year, I’ll be used more as a scorer and I’ll really have to pick up my offense.”
After a strong summer, Beaty says his recruitment is going well. Although he picked up no offers this summer, he says he’s been recruited by a “variety of schools,”
“My goal is to go to a Division I school that focuses on education, that’s always first,” said Beaty. “I want to go to a good college where I just do my school work and play basketball.”
