Prospect Introduction: Steven Burr (2021)
Oak Ridge will be using a speedy and intelligent young guard on varsity this season.
2021 guard Steven Burr stands at 5’9″, 125 lbs., but his mixture of wheels, athleticness and pure scoring ability give him a boost. He says he would like to average more assists this upcoming season.
Burr recapped his freshman season with varsity.
“My freshman season was a huge learning experience for me. Going from dominating at my middle school to playing a key role was an adjustment,” Burr told Prep Hoops. “My game has improved greatly, I have always been a scorer but, Coach CJ has trained me to be a high level scorer shooting wise. I am now able to score off the dribble, as well as catch and shooting ability. I am confident about my game and am confident I’m one of the tops guards in my class.”
“…I’m excited about my sophomore season, Coach Reece is really giving me a chance to show my abilities and I’m excited to see what the year will bring.”
Burr played for Hawk Youth Basketball Elite 16U this summer. He’s been with the program for three years now. He led them in scoring, rebounding and steals.
No offers have come yet for the sophomore, but he’s drawn interest from Stetson, UCF, Arkansas Tech, Wake Forest and Long Island.
Burr will make his presence known with Oak Ridge varsity, a new look squad that features 2019 starters CJ Walker and Kaleb Coleman alongside 2021 guard Jalen Smith and others. This is a really good learning experience for Burr and we will see what he can do with it.
