Prospect Intro: Jabrion Spikes (2022)
Caldwell County has some good young talent to go along with Senior Derrin Boyd this season. One of those young players is freshman Jabrion Spikes. Spikes thinks his shooting ability will help him find his way onto the floor this season, “I am a lights out shooter who can hurt you from anywhere inside of half court on the offensive and defensive ends. This summer I have been working on my biggest weakness by getting stronger by lifting and doing push-ups.” Coach Daniel Kukahiko called Jabrion a “good young player with a lot of upside. He has a high IQ on the court and can really shoot the basketball. Jabrion also has high character and a good work ethic and a drive to continue to get better.”
Spikes played AAU this spring with Madisonville Elite. He told me that they won 1 tournament and made the final four in several others, including the Gatorade Invite in Terre Haute, Indiana. Jabrion expects the AAU success to carry over to the high school floor, “I plan to take my court awareness and IQ to the high school level to help my team.” For the upcoming season, the shooter has high hopes, “I plan to play plenty of varsity basketball this year and start next year (as a Sophomore). Last season I dressed 3 or 4 varsity games but received little playing time. This year I will show everyone how my game has gotten even better than people thought my ceiling would be.” Every team needs a shooter and Jabrion Spikes hopes to use his shooting ability to get on the floor this season at Caldwell County and be an impact player in the second region for the next four years.
