Program Awards: Young & Reckless
Now that the travel team season has wrapped up we dive into programs across the state looking at their teams in a variety of categories in our Program Awards! Today we examine Young & Reckless!
Program MVP
Jeremiah Hernandez (St. Viator)
Hernandez was consistent throughout the spring for Young & Reckless. The St. Viator small forward displayed what he does best which is scoring the basketball with a feathery jumper and effortless handle getting to the rack. With a lot of highly ranked players he was the best.
Top 2019 Prospect
Jeremiah Hernandez (St. Viator)
Hernandez is a top 15 prospect in the state of Illinois for a reason. He can flat out put the ball in the hoop, but he also became more efficient with how he did it improving his shot selection. Also really like his passing ability as he can play a point-forward role at times.
Top 2020/2021 Prospect
Seryee Lewis (Kenwood)
Lewis elevated his game in a major way during the spring. He played much harder and with a passion for the game every time out. His athleticism and bounce off the floor is big time for a player his age. Rebounded at a higher rate and his defense made strides as well.
Sleeper
Chris Roberts (Lincoln Park)
Roberts is a prospect that we are big advocates of and don’t quite understand why he isn’t getting more attention on the recruiting trail. He has ELITE speed. Going coast to coast there isn’t anyone better in the state of Illinois. Tremendous layup maker. Yes the jumper needs some improvement, but he has solid mechanics already.
Biggest Stock Riser
Trey Boston (Downers Grove North)
Boston elevated his stock with his microwave type scoring ability throughout the spring and summer. He absolutely went off in several key games including contests that were deep in bracket play on Sunday. This combo guard helped himself with a strong travel team season!
