Program Awards: Manimal Elite
With the 2018 AAU season in the rear view mirror, we are going to dive into programs across the state looking at their teams in a variety of categories in our Program Awards! Today we examine Manimal Elite!
Program MVP
Jacob Hobbs (Central Hardin)
Hobbs went from lightly recruited to 3 D1 offers over the course of the season. On a Manimal roster that had a lot of turnover from April to July, Hobbs was one of the constants. Recently committed to Lipscomb, Jacob’s best basketball is ahead of him.
Top 2019 Prospect
David Johnson (Trinity)
Johnson is a top 100 national recruit and has already whittled his final list down to Xavier, Louisville and Georgia. David only played the three July tournaments with Manimal but showed why he has often been considered the top player in the state in the 2019 class.
Top 2020/2021 Prospect
Trey James, Sheldon Clark – Trey has been in the top 3 in our 2021 rankings since they started and should stay near the top for the duration. James is 6’10 and strong and took visits to Louisville and Purdue last weekend.
Sleeper
Keaston Brown, Henry Clay
Brown added an offer from Bellarmine over the summer and is on the radar of several other schools heading into his senior year at Henry Clay. Unfortunately, Keaston has suffered through some bad luck with injuries the last couple of years. A healthy senior season should cause an increase in his recruitment.
Biggest Stock Riser
Dashawn Jackson, Frederick Douglass
Jackson has a ton of potential as a scoring combo guard in the 2021 class. Already a good shooter, Dashawn has become an excellent driver and is starting to finish at the rim with authority. By the time he graduates, Dashawn could be one of the best players in the state in 2021.
