Program Awards: Mac Irvin Fire
Now that the travel team season has wrapped up we dive into programs across the state looking at their teams in a variety of categories in our Program Awards! Today we examine the Mac Irvin Fire!
Program MVP
Kahlil Whitney (Roselle Catholic, NJ)
Whitney who is originally from Chicago and played his first year at Solorio was absolutely spectacular throughout the spring and summer for the Fire. The Roselle Catholic wing elevated his 17U squad significantly with his play in the Nike EYBL. His dominant play during the July live periods earned him a Kentucky offer and ultimately he committed to Big Blue Nation.
Top 2019 Prospect
Markese Jacobs (Uplift)
Whitney is definitely the top prospect on this team, but here we look at the best in-state player. Uplift point guard Markese Jacobs had some questions to be answered after an up and down junior season. The Kansas commit did just that with a quality spring and summer. Super athletic lead guard that can get to the rim and pushes it in the open floor. Clear #2 2019 prospect in state.
Top 2020/2021 Prospect
Adam Miller (Morgan Park)
Miller missed the beginning and end of the travel team season with injuries, but the middle was very good. He was especially good to close out the spring and the current top 2020 prospect is a combo guard with size along with big time scoring pop. Dynamic young player that is a top 30 prospect nationally.
Sleeper
Rashaun Agee (Bogan)
Agee is a post that has flown a bit under the radar, but this Bogan big man played consistent for the Fire with the way he rebounded in his area and was a tough post defender. Runs the floor well and has some developmental upside in the post.
Biggest Stock Riser
Terrence Shannon (IMG Academy, FL)
Shannon emerged in the second half of his high school season at Lincoln Park. He decided to go to prep school and play on the travel team circuit with the Fire. Good choice! He went from unknown regional prospect to top 100 national recruit! Explosive lefty that is great at playing in the open floor with his athleticism.
