Program Awards: Louisville Magic
With the 2018 AAU season in the rear view mirror, we are going to dive into programs across the state looking at their teams in a variety of categories in our Program Awards! Today we examine Louisville Magic!
Program MVP
Zach Loveday (Gallia, Ohio)
Although he left to play for the ITPS Wildcats at the end of July, no one did more for the Magic brand this season than the 7 foot Loveday from Ohio. Zach showed the length, upside and floor stretching ability that college coaches salivate over. Loveday has been ranked in the top 50-75 of every national 2020 ranking released in the last few months.
Top 2019 Prospect
Isaiah Allen, Scott County
The Magic 17u had a remarkable amount of turnover from the start of the season until the last weekend in July. Allen was one of the few left 2019s standing at the end of the season. Allen is primed for a big final season after transferring to the favorites to win the state title in Georgetown.
Top 2020/2021 Prospects
Jackson Ames (West Clermont, Ohio)
Another out of state post player, Ames picked up multiple D1 offers this summer as he racked up multiple double double games before breaking his leg in July and missing the last couple of weeks.
Trey Kaufman (Silver Creek, Indiana)
Kaufman is a big time run and jump athlete in the 2021 class. Another out of state player who had a big year for the Magic 15u team that was nationally ranked at one time before coach Kenny Johnson left for LaSalle in May. If he continues to grow and develop, Kaufman could be a top 50 type recruit nationally in 2021.
Sleeper
Noah Courtney, Male
Courtney is long and skilled and plays with a good motor. He’s currently a tweener as a 2020 prospect because he’s not a true post but not really a wing either. Noah should average a double double this year at Male and if he grows two more inches, he could be a mid major D1 recruit a year from now.
Biggest Stock Riser
Scotty Draud, Beechwood
It’s one thing to score against kids in the 9th region. It’s another to score against big time athletes from all across the country. Scotty is already a known commodity in Kentucky and is on his way to becoming more well known as a potential national recruit in the 2021 class. Look for Draud to cement himself as one of the top Kentuckians in the 2021 class.
