Program Awards: Illinois Wolves
Now that the travel team season has wrapped up we dive into programs across the state looking at their teams in a variety of categories in our Program Awards! Today we examine the Illinois Wolves!
Program MVP
Marquise Kennedy (Brother Rice)
Kennedy had the biggest impact on the Wolves consistently winning at the 17U level throughout the spring and summer. With his ability to score off the bounce as well as get others involved he was exactly what the Wolves needed to take their 17U group to the next level.
Top 2019 Prospect
Tom Welch (Naperville North)
It was a close decision between Kennedy and Welch for this honor, but we give the slightest edge to Welch. The Loyola commit did a tremendous job throughout the spring and summer using his versatility on both ends of the floor. He got stronger and his athleticism improved quite a bit.
Top 2020/2021 Prospect
Max Christie (Rolling Meadows)
This one isn’t close as Christie might be the best prospect in the state right now regardless of class. This Rolling Meadows rising sophomore can play the one through three with his size, athleticism, and off the charts skill level. So smooth with the ball in his hands.
Sleeper
Bryant Brown (Waukegan)
Brown is a player that we still believe is underrated when it comes to recruiting. He might not have had a dominant spring or summer, but what we liked was that the accepted his role on the team and showed growth as a perimeter shooter.
Biggest Stock Riser
Marquise Kennedy (Brother Rice)
Kennedy was maybe the single biggest stock riser in the state of Illinois regardless of program so he gets the nod here. Moved up a ton in the overall rankings after a monster spring and will continue that climb in our next update. Went from no offers to over a dozen!
