Program Awards: Illinois Irish
Now that the travel team season has wrapped up we dive into programs across the state looking at their teams in a variety of categories in our Program Awards! Today we examine Illinois Irish!
Program MVP
Sean Houpt (Danville)
Houpt was the most consistent prospect for the Illinois Irish throughout the spring and summer on the circuit for the Illinois Irish. The Danville combo guard brought a stability to this group with his steady play both on and off the ball. Plus shooter that drills threes and is a sound perimeter defender.
Top 2019 Prospect
Ryland Holt (Gibson City)
Holt could have won the majority of these awards with the way he closed July. The Gibson City combo forward opened a lot of eyes with his athleticism, versatility, and ability to shoot the basketball. Holt is a plus catch and shoot threat that can also defend multiple positions. Hottest D2 target in the state.
Top 2020/2021 Prospect
Connor Dillon (Peoria Notre Dame)
Dillon is a combo guard that was solid for the Irish 16U group. This lefty is a skilled wing that can shoot it off the catch, but is also a sneaky athlete with his ability to explode around the hoop.
Sleeper
Landon Wolfe (Effingham)
Wolfe is a prospect that we have been fans of for a while and continue to be. He is a physically built small forward that has a knack for scoring the basketball. Plus shooter from both mid-range and three. Moves well without the ball to get open.
Biggest Stock Riser
Luke Yoder (Bloomington Central Catholic)
Yoder got his momentum going with his high school team in June and that continued throughout the July live period. Point guard that displayed the ability to both score and dish effectively. Pushed the tempo and hit shots. A lot of D2 programs are hot on his trail!
