There are a lot of good combo guards in today’s game due to the era of “positionless” basketball. Combo guards usually range from 6’3′-6’5′ and can handle the ball well but also score at a high level. Junior guard Asaad Muhammad fits that description as he looks to make an impact this year for John Muir High School. We caught up with Muhammad to learn more about his basketball background and his insights on Grassroots basketball.

A. My goal this upcoming year is to get stronger , win Cif and State Championship and win Player of the Year.
Q. How has AAU helped your overall growth as a player?
A. Aau helped me to gain confidence and motivated me to work harder
Q. Do you feel that AAU is good for basketball and why or why not?
A. Aau is good and bad the good thing is you have some programs that really care about developing your skills ,they give you a chance to earn your minutes and they help to get into college. The bad thing is a lot teams goes out and recruit talent ,they don’t really develop them ,some kids never get a shot because of the 5 stars or 4 stars be on the team so it’s very hard to get a scholarship that way and some players have egos if they see a scout they wanna show out instead of being a team player
