Phoenix is Rising Tournament: AZ Legends standouts
The AZ Legends showed out at the Phoenix is Rising: Best Ever Tournament in Avondale, AZ this weekend. Here are some of the players that stood out:
Forrest Swope played a very athletic style of basketball, as he has been known to do on a regular basis. He glided in the air for lay ups all tournament on offense, and used his long arms and big vertical to contest shots and passes every game. He also hit a few jumpers from the outside when his team needed it, but kept attacking the basket.
Sam Mobisson is deceptive in his size. Playing much like a guard for this group, he actually stands taller than most of the opposing players he goes up against. He utilized that size to see over the top of opponents and make good passes to teammates. He shot well from outside, as well, and was a good communicator on both ends.
Khadak Sheikh was big as a rebounder when he was there. Much like he is used to, the team depended on him to come down with a lot of boards following misses, and to secure second-chance points on the other end. He also played well from the post, hitting a few nice shots from close to the basket.
Steven Cervantes spent a majority of the time he was on the court handling the ball. With plenty of long, athletic players, he seemed to understand that his biggest strength would be passing and getting them open for baskets. He competed as hard as anybody on the defensive end, getting his chest into opponents and making their days tough.
