Macomb Cougars Finish Successful AAU Season
The Macomb Cougars are a growing program on the grassroots scene in Michigan. They fielded talented teams and experienced success this season.

Here is a look at the Macomb Cougars teams from this spring and summer:
MACOMB COUGARS 15U
A highlight of the season for the 15u squad was a strong finish at the Kentucky All-In Hoopfest and the Chicago Summer Jam. In these events, the Macomb Cougars faced talented competition and the players had an opportunity to show off their skills to a broad audience.
Key Players
Christian Johnson (5’10”, G, L’Anse Creuse North, 2021)
Johnson found his groove late in the season after coming back from a broken foot suffered during high school season. He was at times the best player on the floor.
Vincent Longo (5’10”, G, L’Anse Creuse North, 2021)
Longo was impressive all AAU season and is a rising prospect in Michigan. He was excellent from behind the three point line and made a lot of big shots. Longo was also solid on the defensive end, making many steals in key moments.
MACOMB COUGARS 16U
The Macomb Cougars 16u team showed great improvement throughout the grassroots season. Their season was highlighted by their performance at the All-In Hoopfest. The Macomb Cougars 16u roster showed that they have the talent to catch the eye of coaches at the next level.
Key Players
Aaron Hunter (5’9”, G, Roseville)
Hunter showed off his elite athleticism all season. He’s an explosive player who attacks the basket with a quick first step. Hunter is solid on defense, creating turnovers in bunches.
Alex Shaheen (PG, Grosse Pointe South)
Shaheen proved to be a floor leader. He constantly set up his teammates in scoring positions. Shaheen was crafty, using good body control to get into the lane and get to the free throw line.
MACOMB COUGARS 17U
The Macomb Cougars 17u squad showed off their grit and toughness during the grassroots season. Their best event was the Chicago Summer Jam. In front of large crowds, the 17u squad proved to have talented players who should be on the radars of coaches at the next level.
Key Players
Ryan Downey (6’0”, G, Grosse Pointe South, 2019)
Downey was excellent with the ball in his hands. He set up the offense and found open teammates in an efficient manner. Downey also showed the ability to attack the basket and finish at the rim. He will be visiting Lawrence Tech in the the next few weeks.
Matthew Osterhout (6’3”, G/F, De La Salle Collegiate, 2019)
Osterhout turned heads throughout the spring and summer. He was strong on the dribble drive. Osterhout proved to be a clutch shooter, taking and hitting many big three point shots.
