Louisiana Top 250 Camp: 2019 Top Performers
De’Antray Hughes 6’6 F Edna Karr
Hughes is a big time high flyer, and had one of the loudest days of camp as a result. He threw down some big time dunks, and was probably the best finisher of the camp in traffic. He even showed off some moves from the wing, and his upside is sky high if he can transition to the 3.
Damiree Burns 6’7 F Sophie B. Wright
Burns had a pretty up and down day, but whenever he wanted to be great, he was great. For his size, he is a matchup nightmare for anyone, especially defenders that aren’t considered D1 prospects. He posts up smaller defenders, and blows by biggers ones, and his unrelenting motor made him a monster on the glass.
Rodney Munson 6’1 G Bonnabel
There is no question about it, Munson is one of the top scorers in the state for the 2019 class, and he showed off that ability at camp. Munson can get going in a hurry, and once he does, there isn’t much the defense can do to slow him down. At one point in the 2nd game, he went on a 7-0 run by himself, scoring at all 3 levels to get those 7 points.
Hunter Dean 6’9 F Lakeshore
Mr. MVP himself had one heck of a showing at camp. He started the day off going with a full windmill, and showed off his athleticism by putting his head at the rim. Not bad for a 6’9. Once the games got started, there wasn’t anyone in the gym who could match up with him, with maybe the exception of AAU teammate Damiree Burns. With such a versatile game on both ends of the court, there wasn’t anything that Dean wasn’t capable of doing.
Ralph Johnson 5’11 G NISH
Johnson definitely showed off why he is capable of being one of the better guards in the state for the 2019 class. He has a really smooth game and showed off the ability to get into the lane at will. Whenever he got into the lane, he showed that he is a traditional point guard, making some really nice passes to set up teammates in good positions. Couple that with his high effort level on the defensive end, and Johnson is going to find himself a home somewhere at the next level.
Roderick Hackett 5’10 G Bonnabel
There were some games where Hackett didn’t look great, but other games where he looked phenomenal. He looked especially good in the pick and roll and getting into the teeth of the defense where he made the right play pretty consistently. He showed off the ability to score on multiple levels, and was an above average 3 pt shooter.
Isaiah Bigham 6’1 G Riverside
Isaiah was another guard from the New Orleans area that showed off an improved game from the last time I saw him. When I saw him last, he looked mostly like a 3 and D roll player, but he has clearly been working on his game, and looks to be a much better ball handler and finisher around the rim. His game took a big step forward, which is exactly what Riverside is going to need from him heading into next season.
