Louisiana Top 150 Camp: Top 2020 Performers
Carvell Teasett 6’1 G Scotlandville
Teasett has been out of varsity basketball for a year, after transferring out of Southern Lab to Scotlandville, but you couldn’t tell by the way he played. He didn’t look like he was playing with any rust, and was scoring at the level that he looked like he should be from two years ago. He can score at all 3 levels, and has a knack for getting the ball through the hoop.
Collin Holloway 6’5 F Catholic
If there’s one thing that you can’t knack Collin Holloway for, it’s toughness. He was participating in the camp with a severely bruised rib, that was pretty clearly causing him pain throughout the day, but he still found a way to go at guy’s necks. He is as competitive as they get, and was still able to score at a high rate throughout the camp.
Corey Smooth 6’1 G Rummel
This has been a big week for Smooth. After an impressive outing at camp this weekend, he picked up another mid major D1 offer, this time from Southern Miss. Smooth showed once again just how deadly he can be attacking in the pick and roll, getting to the rim and finding teammates around him. He is a really incredible passer, and has a chance to be one of the best passers out the boot over the last 5 years.
Ladamien Bradford 6’4 G Jonesboro-Hodge
You could easily make the argument that Bradford had the most impressive day of camp out of anyone, not just 2020 prospects. At 6’4 he has the size and length to do anything that he wants on the court, and he showed off that ability. He has a lightning quick first step, and is able to finish at and above the rim with authority. He sees the floor well, and had perhaps the pass of the day, in a no look pass from near half court to a lob at the rim for his teammate.
Tai’reon Joseph 6’2 G Scotlandville
One thing you can consistently say about Tai’reon “Scoota” Joseph is that he plays hard every single second he is out on the court. He made an impression diving on the floor after a loose ball, after a stellar defensive play knocking the ball loose. He also showed off a much improved handle, and was able to regularly get to the lane, and had some impressive finishes above the rim that I wasn’t expecting, as well as an improve ability to finish through contact.
Taevon Anderson 6’3 G Oak Grove
Anderson was a player that I was really excited to see at camp, because I hadn’t seen him live, but his game tape was so impressive. I was interested in seeing if his game translated against better competition, and it definitely did. At his size, he is a really impressive shooter, and plays with a high basketball IQ. He sees the floor well when he is playing on the ball and one of the things that makes him so deadly off the ball is his fantastic cutting ability, which combined with his 3 pt shooting make him really difficult to guard.
Byron Joshua 5’9 G Crescent City
Joshua is another one that might have had as good a day of anyone in the 2020 class. He showed off an improved handle, and with his quickness was able to get to the rim pretty much whenever he wanted. His defense has always been stellar, and there were definitely times throughout camp, when he picked up full court that the offensive player had a tough time just getting the ball past half court.
