Kahlil Whitney to Kentucky
Roselle Catholic (NJ) 2019 small forward Kahlil Whitney who is originally from Chicago has committed to the Kentucky Wildcats. The Mac Irvin Fire wing finished up his official visit to the Wildcats on Sunday. Many were expecting a commitment on the visit, but instead he took a few days to think it over and then pulled the trigger on the commitment.
Whitney had an absolutely monster July after he had already elevated his game in the spring. We saw Whitney making pro moves and looking like a potential one and done type player. The biggest improvement in his game has been his perimeter shot. He has become a consistent threat from mid-range and also three. His ability to create his own shot with ease and make them was very impressive. That combined with his freakish athleticism, size for position, and tenacious motor has elevated him into the top 20 nationally and a probable spot in the McDonald’s All-American Game.
Whitney narrowed his finalists down to Kentucky, Georgetown, Illinois, and Oregon. After John Calipari saw him twice completely obliterate his opponents at Summer Jam he put the full court press on and got the commitment. The Chicago native played his first year of high school ball at Solorio before transferring out east.
