Jayhawk Summer Finale (2019 Forwards)
Here is a look at the top Missouri Class of 2019 forwards from last weekend’s Jayhawk Summer Finale in Overland Park, KS
Tyem Freeman 6’6″ MO Team Carroll (Parkview)
The explosive Missouri State commit had the biggest offensive outburst of the weekend when he had 40 points and 13 rebounds in a victory over Oklahoma PwP. He had it all working and showed how dominant a player he can be. Not only was he throwing down his normal dunks, he was slashing to the basket for buckets and he also nailed four 3-pointers.If he can knock down the 3-pointer, his game goes to another level.
Darrius Hughes 6’6″ Team Rush (Rockhurst)
The talented power forward earned an offer from Abeline Christian after a very productive weekend. He is strong and a very tough performer around the basket at both ends. He is a good rebounder and he will finish strong in traffic, often with an explosive dunk. He is not afraid to handle the basketball and make plays off the dribble or drop off a nice pass.
Tyon Foster 6’7″ Team Rush (Link Year)
The long athletic combo forward made his presence known on both ends of the court. He was a real matchup problem on offense with his ability to put the ball on the floor, post up and knock down 3-pointers. He was just a big a problem on the defensive end as he used his long reach to challenge and block several shots.
Daryus Pennington 6’5″ NdaGym (North Kansas City)
A much improved post player who played with great activity during the weekend. He was constantly running the court hard and was rewarded with several buckets in transition. He displayed some nice moves in the post and he was a consistent factor on the boards. He should have a very productive senior year at NKC.
Trenton Smith 6’6″ MO Team Carroll (Carl Junction)
The physical post player did a nice job of making plays around the basket with his strength and bounce. On a team full of perimeter shooters, he had plenty of room to operate in the low post for buckets. He also displayed a much improved stroke from 3-point range in his own right. Poised for another big year after leading Carl Junction to a district title as a junior. He has already received numerous Division II offers.
Trent McBride 6’7″ Storm Elite (Eminence)
The Class 1 Player of the Year had another productive weekend with his inside scoring and rebounding. He can operate well in traffic because he has good footwork and fundamental post moves. The lefty can also bring his game outside and knock down high post jumpers and a 3-pointer from time to time. He can also pass it.
Dylan Massey 6’6″ Storm Elite (Mountain Grove)
It was my first time seeing this impressive post player in person. He has a body that is built for the rigors and physicality of college post play, much less high school. The southpaw knows how to work his way around the basket and did well in high-low situations with his teammate McBride. He was also not afraid to step out and make a 3-pointer when left open.

Stevie Wright 6’5″ Knights Basketball Academy (Webster Groves)
An active combo forward who was one of the best offensive rebounders that I watched during the weekend. His high motor and athleticism enabled him to consistently beat bigger players to the glass for easy putbacks. He is tough to block out because he is always in motion.
Triston Letterman 6’5″ All Missouri Attack (Marshfield)
A versatile performer who played a lot of point-forward for his team. He was the tallest person on the Attack, but he was very effective when bringing the ball up and being a facilitator. He had some nice takes to the basket and he also had a solid moments on the defensive end where he used his length to block shots and create steals. A real swiss-army knife.
