Jacobi Wood Sparking More College Interest
Junior Jacobi Wood sparkled with WHBH 16u all summer. In fact, by the end of July Wood was attracting more college coaches to his games than any other talented WHBH Gold 16u player.
The 20th ranked player in the Class of 2020 stands 6-foot-2 with impressive quickness and scoring ability.
After AAU wrapped over a dozen college coaches immediately initiated contact with Jacobi and his coaches. According to Cleveland High School Assistant Coach Reggie Tucker the following teams reached out concerning Jacobi Wood the first week of August:
South Alabama
Canisius
Jacksonville State
Pacific
Nevada
East Carolina
Vanderbilt
Georgia Southern
Brown
Murray State
Rice
Creighton
“Jacobi Wood heard from Toledo, Liberty, Creighton, South Alabama, North Florida, Denver, SeMo, Canisius, and Jacksonville State yesterday,” shared Assistant Coach Reggie Tucker.
Two of the teams to reach out yesterday were Ohio Valley Conference teams (SeMo, Jacksonville State) and also Murray State has been hovering.
East Carolina invited Jacobi Wood to their Elite Camp Sunday. Chattanooga keeps evaluating Jacobi Wood and during the second week in July an assistant watched Wood play in person. Chattanooga Assistant Coach Walter Offutt spent a couple games evaluating Wood.

Remember June 15th, 2018 all of the 2020’s received their first official college contact. It represents a sanctioned start date to the college recruiting process. For Jacobi the date included many of the old stand-bys like Canisius and South Alabama, but he also heard from Rice, Tennessee State, Chattanooga, and Butler.
In September, Jacobi plans to hit the recruiting road. He intends to visit Liberty, Creighton, USC, and SE Missouri State.
