Iowa’s August Happenings
Another month is in the books, and although August is typically one of the slower ones for hoops action, there was still plenty of off-court developments. Below, we’ll take a look at some of the pertinent news that took place the last 31 days.
Iowa’s Top 250 Expo Announced
As the Prep Hoops brand continues to grow, so too do the events we put on. This year, we will be bringing our late summer/early fall showcases to more markets than ever all across the country; Iowa’s is slated for Sept. 29 at Kingdom Courts in Des Moines. There’s been an overwhelming response from prospects around the state, this year’s edition of the showcase is shaping up to be the best in the four years we’ve had one in Iowa. Click here to see a sneak peak of what guys have registered early for the event.
High School Season on the Horizon
As our Tony Roe so acutely pointed out on August 18th, there were exactly 100 days from that day until the start of the high school hoops season. What better time to start rolling out some way too early team rankings. Tony did just that, check them out below.
We are now 100 days away from the start of the #iahsbkb season. (Games, not practices or scrimmages, that is.)

Brauns Back With ‘Stormers
After spending a summer away from his original grassroots program, Iowa Barnstormers, Iowa City West big-man Even Brauns has decided to return. The 6’9 power forward — Iowa’s 2nd-ranked 2020 — spent his 16U offseason running with Wisconsin Playground Warriors; he picked up additional D1 offers from Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Toledo while playing with them (added to his Drake and Northern Iowa offers). Just yesterday, he announced via his Twitter that he’ll be re-joining Bowen Born, AJ Coons and Co. for his 17U season.
Excited to announce that me and my family have decided that i will spend my last year of AAU back home with the @IA_Barnstormers #stormerfam @CoachJamieP
