Hand Down, Man Down: Kentucky’s Best 3 Point Shooters
Kentucky high school basketball is full of shooters. From Paducah to Pikeville, there are some really lights out shooters all across the state. Here’s a look at some of the top shooters across Kentucky. There will surely be some left off the list that folks will feel are deserving, feel free to leave some of those names in the comments section below.
Noah Back, Perry County Central – Back made 106 three pointers a season ago for the Commodores and has an outside shot at graduating with the most made 3s in state history. Noah shot an impressive 42.7% from the perimeter last season and should be near the top of the state in made threes per game again after finishing second with 3.8 made threes per game as a Junior.
Troy Coomer, Gallatin County – Coomer comes off a Junior year where he shot a remarkable 52.5% from beyond the arc and made 115 threes on the season. Troy made over 3 threes per game last season and will look to increase that production for a Gallatin team that should be in the running for the 8th region title.
KyKy Tandy, University Heights – Tandy gets a lot of accolades for his scoring ability but probably not enough recognition for what a good shooter he is. As a Junior last year, Tandy shot 47.9% from 3 while making 3 per game. Look for KyKy to continue shooting the ball at a high percentage for the Blazers this season.
Rodriguez Thomas, Paducah Tilghman – Rodriguez shot just under 45% from deep last year for the Blue Tornado and is at his best as a catch and shoot guard off the ball. Look for Thomas to continue his hot shooting this season as Tilghman tries to make a push to Rupp Arena.
Jachai Walker, John Hardin – Walker will need to increase the number of shots he takes per game with an increased role on offense. As a Junior, Jachai shot 55% from 3 on less than 2 attempts per game from behind the arc. With a lot of shots available thanks to graduation, look for Walker to make huge strides this season.
Will Hacker, Lexington Christian – Hacker makes a living off of Kyle Rode’s ability to drive and kick. Will shot just under 49% from three last season and made over 2 per game. LCA has to replace a lot of offense this season so look for Hacker to have an expanded role.
Diablo Stewart, Scott County – The point guard for the 2018 state runners-up, Diablo shot almost 43% from 3 while making more than 2 shots per game from behind the arc. Stewart will be the starting point guard again for the Cardinals and look to continue his onslaught from behind the 3 point line.
JJ Ramey, South Laurel – JJ shot nearly 50% from three last year while making 2.1 per game. Ramey has already been offered by multiple NAIA schools and could end up at the high D2 or low D1 level by graduation.
